Our first tutorial is here!
We’ve just released our very first Knot Now tutorial, and we’re currently working on many more to make this section even clearer and easier to explore.

Please bear with us as we continue to improve this space — we’re also developing new cord colours that will be released very soon!

Thank you for your patience and support. More creative and advanced tutorials are on their way — stay tuned! 💚

Knot Now Tutorial - Basket

  1. Let’s sew a basket — our very first tutorial!
  2. Cord used: 5mm 007 Light Grey + thread T007 Light Grey
  3. Safety first — keep your fingers clear and sew slowly.
  4. Remove the polyester core from the cord.
  5. Cut a small piece of the core and slide the cotton cover back on.
  6. Fold about 15 cm of cord together and start stitching the layers with a zigzag stitch (size 6).
  7. We’ll make a 25 cm long section for the base.
  8. Keep sewing slowly, joining the cord as you go.
  9. I stopped when my basket reached 25 cm in length and 10 cm in width — perfect size for me!
  10. Hold your base at a slight angle until the bottom gently touches your sewing machine.
  11. This will help the sides start forming naturally.
  12. If you’re happy with the height, measure the cord and decide where to finish.
  13. Cut the cord and remove the inner core again.
  14. Guide the cord end slightly to the left — this helps the final stitches blend smoothly.
  15. All cords and threads used in this tutorial are available below for purchase 💚

Knot Now Tutorial – Sew Your Own Cord Coasters & Placemats

  1. Let’s sew Cotton Cord Coaster and Placemat
  2. Pick your colour.
  3. Cord used: 5mm 002 - Beige + thread T002 - Beige
  4. Safety first — keep your fingers clear and sew slowly.
  5. Remove the polyester core from the cord.
  6. Cut a small piece of the core and slide the cotton cover back on.
  7. Create the starter coil. Roll a small “snail”—just big enough to hold easily.
  8. Lock the centre. Zigzag forward–back several times to secure the coil.
  9. Join as you go. Keep the cord snug and stitch with a zigzag catching both edges.
  10. Maintain shape. For a circle, keep even tension and gentle, constant turning.
  11. My Size guide.

• Mug coaster:≈1 1 cm diameter
• Dinner placemat:≈ 30 cm diameter

12. Finish prep. When you reach size, cut the cord. Pull out ~1 cm of core, trim it, slide cotton jacket over the tip.

13. Blend the end. Guide the cord end slightly to the left (this helps the final stitches blend smoothly) and zigzag forward–back several times.

14. Clean edges. Trim loose threads on both sides for a neat finish.

15. Label option. Add your brand tag over the join for an invisible, premium ending.

Done. Your new coasters/placemats are ready!
